Nakamura Shinji, 11, showcases his App Inventor project, 'Catch the Poachers!’, for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 24/25!
"Many animals are going extinct because of illegal poaching. As a player, you are tasked with an important mission to protect the animals by catching the poachers. When playing my game, you will be introduced to the animals which are under the care of Singapore Zoo and learn interesting facts about them. This game covers the topics - Animals Under Care, Education and Singapore Zoo. Through “Catch the Poachers”, I hope you will learn more about many different animals and try to protect them." - Nakamura Shinji

Nicholas Chow, 9 | Junior Category | ICS 24/25
Nicholas Chow, 9, showcases his Scratch project, ‘Saving Endangered Animals’, for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 24/25!
"My game is about saving the polar bears. You have to go through ten levels, dodging red spikes and collecting crystals. On the final level, there’s a cage with a polar bear inside. If you’ve collected enough points, you can unlock the cage and save the polar bear!" - Nicholas Chow

Siow Wen Yan, 8 | Junior Category | ICS 24/25
Siow Wen Yan, 8 , showcases her Scratch project, 'Taking Care of Animals’, for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 24/25!
"My project aims to create awareness of the importance of the zookeeper in providing care for animals, in this case, preparing food for them. I chose an elephant and giraffe because I saw these animals in the Singapore Zoo, and people can visit them at the Singapore Zoo to learn more about them. I created the different parts of the game so that people understand that the role of the zookeeper is not easy, and people can play the game several times to win the game in the fastest amount of time." - Siow Wen Yan

Tan Jia Qi Gail, 8 | Junior Category | ICS 24/25
Tan Jia Qi Gail, 8, showcases her Scratch project, 'Save Baby Elephant’, for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 24/25!
"I created this game "Save Baby Elephant" to teach people about protecting elephants. The goal of the game is to help Baby Elephant escape from the poacher at each round and eventually reunite her with her Mother. You can use arrow keys to control Baby Elephant and jump on the white platforms to avoid the poacher and escape to the right side of each scene. I hope you enjoy the game and learn about protecting elephants! " - Tan Jia Qi Gail

#CodingLabStudents: Alicia Khong, 12, MIT AI & Education Summit 1st Prize Winner
Meet Alicia, an inspiring young coder whose dedication to STEM has earned her a Direct School Admission (DSA) offer to her preferred schools and won her various awards in both the local and global stage - the 1st Prize in the prestigious MIT AI & Education Summit, and the Silver Award in the International Coding Showcase 2023!
Starting her journey in coding out of curiosity at the age of 7, Alicia’s passion has evolved into a creative pursuit that allows her to explore new ideas and make a difference.
From coding impactful projects to advocating for environmental change through her games, Alicia exemplifies the resilience, creativity, and critical thinking skills that coding brings. #CodingLabStudents: Lim Chen Kai, 12, HCIC 2024 Bronze Winner
Meet Chen Kai, a talented young coder whose determination and passion for learning have led him to significant accomplishments, including the Bronze Award at the prestigious Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) and a successful DSA offer to the School of Science and Technology (SST) for 2025!

#CodingLabStudents: Tan Yap, 12, HCIC 2024 Platinum Winner
Tan Yap’s coding journey began when she was just in preschool, sparked by a robotics class that piqued her curiosity. Since then, her passion for coding has grown immensely, from Scratch to Python, and now exploring languages like JavaScript and C++. She has even competed in the prestigious Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) 2024 and won the Platinum award in her first-ever competition, only awarded to the top 1.5% of participants — an achievement that speaks volumes about her dedication and drive!

#CodingLabStudents: Aiden Breva, 12, HCIC 2024 Silver Winner, NJCO Bronze Winner
Aiden’s coding journey began at a young age and has led him to remarkable achievements, including winning a Silver award at the Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) 2024, as well as a Bronze award at the National Junior Cybersecurity Olympiad (NJCO), ranking high despite competing against many other older participants in secondary school level and above!

Today, we are introducing Winston, an aspiring 13-year-old coder who kickstarted his coding journey with us and got into St. Andrew’s Secondary School via DSA with coding, right here at Coding Lab!
Winston started coding at the tender age of 7. The passage of time stands as a testament to his unwavering determination and perseverance throughout the years. It is with great pride that we celebrate his remarkable achievements, as his consistent effort culminated in a well-deserved Distinction and Judges’ Choice (Most Creative) Award in the International Coding Showcase (ICS) 2022!

At Coding Lab, we are passionate about empowering our students to reach new heights and commemorating the remarkable achievements of our students. Introducing our #CodingLabStudent of the month, Lucas Tan, 13, who is currently attending St. Joseph’s Institution after successfully gaining an offer through DSA via coding!
Lucas also has gained various coding achievements, such as the Silver Award in the Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) 2023 and the Judge’s Choice Award in the International Coding Showcase (ICS) 2022.

It is never too early to start coding — it is an essential life skill that can be picked up with the proper resources and guidance!
Meet David, a young and budding coder currently 10 years old in 2024, who loves exploring what he can do and create with coding! Despite being one of the youngest participants in the International Coding Showcase 2022 at 7 years old, David’s solid foundation in coding propelled him to achieve remarkable feats, earning a Distinction and Judges’ Choice (Best Presentation) Award!

#CodingLabStudents: Jacob Xu, 13, NUS High School, HCIC 2023 Gold Award Winner
Meet Jacob, a diligent 13-year-old coder who won the Gold Award in the Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC 2023), achieved a Distinction and Judges’ Choice (Best Presentation) Award at the International Coding Showcase (ICS) 2022, and is currently attending NUS High School, which he got into via DSA!
Earlier in February 2024, Jacob’s team - Team Coding Lab Urban Coders (Ages 13 to 18) -comprising students from Singapore and Japan beat more than 500 teams (and 10,000 participants) to snag the Best Programming Award in the final competition! Jacob was selected to represent his team and share about their project at the final competition, and even had the chance to tour the Microsoft Japan HQ in Shinagawa, Tokyo. 🤩
