#CodingLabStudents: Jacob Xu, 13, NUS High School, HCIC 2023 Gold Award Winner
Meet Jacob, a diligent 13-year-old coder who won the Gold Award in the Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC 2023), achieved a Distinction and Judges’ Choice (Best Presentation) Award at the International Coding Showcase (ICS) 2022, and is currently attending NUS High School, which he got into via DSA!
Earlier in February 2024, Jacob’s team - Team Coding Lab Urban Coders (Ages 13 to 18) -comprising students from Singapore and Japan beat more than 500 teams (and 10,000 participants) to snag the Best Programming Award in the final competition! Jacob was selected to represent his team and share about their project at the final competition, and even had the chance to tour the Microsoft Japan HQ in Shinagawa, Tokyo. 🤩

Akshat Seayad, 15 | Master Category | ICS 2023
Akshat Seayad, 15, presents his Python coding project ‘Community Pollution Monitoring’ for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 2023.
"This project mainly focuses on UN goals 4, 14 and 15 and aims to allow citizens/students to contribute to conservation efforts and monitoring of pollution. What we have made is a discord bot, which allows people to report different sightings of environmental hazards. This enables a larger community to contribute to data collection to support researchers' or policy makers' analysis of different trends seen and then respond accordingly." - Akshat Seayad

Han Jo Xi, 14 | Master Category | ICS 2023
Han Jo Xi, 14, presents his Python coding project ‘EcoTrackHub’ for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 2023.

#CodingLabStudents: Lucas Tang, 12, and Louis Tang, 10, Henry Park Primary School
We invited 2 passionate brothers, Lucas and Louis Tang, who first began their coding journey with us 4 years ago when they were 9 and 6 years old respectively. They have since accelerated across our S100 Python for teens, and are already pursuing our S200 Electives course at the ages of 12 and 10. Lucas will also be commencing his studies at Hwa Chong Institution in 2023.

Meet our Coding Lab student, Isaac Khong – Platinum Award winner (the highest honour, awarded to the top 1.5% of participants) at the Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) 2022.
You may remember him from our previous student feature together with his sister, Alicia Khong. He has previously won the Judge’s Choice – Social Impact Award in the International Coding Showcase 2020, and the Judge’s Choice – Most Innovative Award in the International Coding Showcase 2021.

Han Jo Xi, 13, Singapore | Python Project Showcase | ICS 2022
Han Jo Xi, 13, presents his Python coding project ‘Python Economy Program’ for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 2022.
"I have coded a mini python economy bot. There are tons of features like solving math equations for money, fishing and digging for money and items and using your money to wager against the bot in rock paper scissors! Everything including your inventory and balance is saved afterwards so it will never perish. Instead of white plain text, the interface also contains coloured text to suit the eyes for reading!" - Han Jo Xi
